You might be new to tunnel slides. They are pretty much like tube water slides without the water.
In old fashioned terms they are the modern day helter skelter. Riders have a sort of bag/mat they put on to slide down the tunnel

Just before we go on we must say that this post has little to do with camping. Not even our occasional series on ‘Things to do while camping’. However, if you have read any of our posts before you will know we have a love of waterslides - both man-made and natural.

To see what we mean take a look at:

You might notice that we don’t go for the massive water park. We look for something a little bit more imaginative than that.

So, back to the funnel slide.

It’s 78 metres high and a whopping 178 metres long. You can find it at London’s ArcelorMittal Orbit tower - famous as a landmark for the 2012 olympic games.

The slide is not for the faint-hearted. Getting to the top is quite a trek. 78m means that only those who are pretty fit are going to get to the top to ride this beauty. A particular treat are the large sections of the tunnel in total darkness!

So, it’s London. You are not likely to be camping.

We just had to include this one.

Take a look now.
