It gets to us all - after a lifetime spend camping, putting up tents and sleeping in sleeping bags on mats on the floor - there comes a time when that just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Yet we still want to enjoy the camaraderie, the social interaction and the pleasure of camping. So what do we do?

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa (KWQC) – It may be hot outside, but that hasn’t stopped some people from hitting the campgrounds. From traditional tents to decked out campers, this campground had it all. I visited a few to see just how the modern american spends a weekend with nature.

“That’s right we’re inside here in this air conditioner,” said camper Carol Nantze.

She and her husband John have been camping for 35 years.

“In the mornings and evenings we’re outside,” John said.

They said back in the day they roughed it out in tents, but here in 2015 they said they’re enjoying the modern day luxuries.

“It has everything in here that we need, you don’t have to carry it to the bathroom,” Carol said. “It has everything. And when you’re older all the comforts of home.”

They’ve got plenty of storage, a bathroom with a shower and even satellite TV.

“I don’t really feel like we’re camping or not, but we, we enjoy doing it this way now,” Carol said.

Just a little ways down the road Bob Gorg and Rochelle Liebman do things a little different….
