As I get older I tend to find that I am gradually moving away from my love of sleeping in tents. I guess it’s because I like my creature comforts that much more. Truth be told, it hurts my knees getting up our of a cot or air bed nowadays.
The trouble is that I haven’t really liked the alternatives. You need somewhere to store trailers and trailer tents. In general we don’t like towing either.
Motorhomes and RVs are such brutes that they don’t fit the bill either.
So we are pretty interested in this VW Doubleback camper. At first site it looks just like a normal van. When it is extended (all automatically) it becomes a true camper capable of sleeping 4 people in comfort.
There does seem to be a bit of a design flaw though - in standard specification there are only driving seats for 2 people. Maybe the idea is that we should link up with another couple when we reach the campsite?!
It pretty much works for me but if you have children the VW Doubleback is probably not for you.
