Bears Are Dangerous Wild Animals

It should be absolutely clear that bears are dangerous, wild animals. Why then do we still keep hearing stories of people feeding bears or, as in the case with the first video, playing with a bear cub in a campsite. I simply can’t watch this video of a really cute bear cub playing with a bowl of water at a campsite without wondering where the mother bear is lurking. Bears and campsites just don’t mix.

In the second article concerns the story of a Teenager attacked by a bear while he was sleeping in his hammock. A park ranger comments that attacks by bears are very rare.
Teen Attacked by Bear While Sleeping on Hammock at Campsite
The 16-year-old and his father were asleep Saturday night at a campsite in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which spans from eastern Tennessee to western North Carolina.
They were in hammocks about 10 feet apart when the bear pulled the teenager from his hammock and attacked him, the park said in a news release.
