One of the biggest downers for your long awaited family camping trip can be having to put your tent up in the rain. No matter how will drilled you and your family become you can get seriously wet unpacking the tent, pegging if down, assembling the poles and sorting out guy ropes and fly sheets.
For the smaller tent pop-ups have become very popular. We’ve even seen backpackers toting light weight pop-up tents too.
Up to now, there has not been a lot of choice for larger, family sized pop-up tents. That is changing. This tent - The Cinch - from the UK comes in 2, 3 and 4 person sizes. It can be erected in seconds. Packing away takes little longer.
A really neat feature is the inclusion of a solar panel with a power pack. The idea is that you charge the power pack before leaving home - allow a couple of days for that if it is anything like the one we bought. Powerpacks are pretty incredible - they easily carry enough charge to keep all your gadgets on the go for a couple of days. The solar panel is permanently connected to the powerpack so you should have power for your whole holiday.
The Cinch has been funded by Crowdsourcing through kickstarter. At the moment the company is re-financing in order to grow. We think it will be a big hit if it ever makes it here.
Update June 2016: We just checked on the status of this tent over at https://www.cinchpopuptents.co.uk/. They say that all tents are currently sold out but they will be taking orders shortly via kickstarter for new tents for delivery in January 2017. We took at a look at their Facebook page too - https://www.facebook.com/cinchpopuptents - very active and current page so we certainly hope the Cinch is going places.
